Swedish Massage in Rockhampton

Therapist applying broad, flowing strokes along a client's back during a Swedish massage

Swedish massage is the gentlest treatment we offer. It uses long, flowing strokes, kneading and light rhythmic pressure, working with the muscles rather than deeply into them. Where remedial massage sets out to change a specific problem, Swedish massage is about giving your nervous system time to settle.

Who it suits

Swedish massage is a good starting point if you are new to massage, if deep pressure is uncomfortable for you, or if what you need is rest rather than rehabilitation. People commonly book it for:

What the technique involves

The therapist works at a steady, predictable rhythm, using oil to allow the hands to glide. Pressure stays within a comfortable range throughout. The intention is to encourage circulation through the superficial tissue and to shift you out of a state of alertness, which is often where persistent muscle tension is held.

Many clients find they lose track of time or fall asleep. That is a good sign, not a problem.

Combining it with other treatment

Swedish technique is often blended into a remedial session, particularly at the beginning to warm the tissue and at the end to settle it. If you are unsure which treatment you need, book in and we will talk it through with you before we start. It is straightforward to adjust the approach on the day.
